SMART Boards
SMART Boards are Interactive whiteboards. SMART Boards get hooked up to a computer and the computer saves the information written on the board! When used with a multimedia projector, they allow the user to control the computer and all of its programs by simply touching the board. SMART Boards also allow for users to write and annotate on top of any application - even the web! SMART Boards are available as front projection boards, rear projection enclosures and Plasma overlays. Currently the most popular are the 3000i, 67" rear projection and the 72" front projection.
Marker Boards Marker boards have replaced the traditional (and dirty) blackboards. Instead of chalk Dry Erase markers are used on a white surface, hence the name Whiteboard. The most popular size whiteboard is 4' x 8'. Basic whiteboards have an aluminum trim though whiteboards can be ordered with custom trims and cabinets in wood. Whiteboards are usually mounted to the wall however, portable easel types are also available. Governor Computer Products specifies Bretford, Da-Lite, Draper and Quartet though others are available.
